Forty years ago, a big chunk of land in Fairburn was known as a great place to spend a lazy afternoon. It was the home of five lakes, a bait shop, a few docks and a day-fishing camp. Now it is the home of families who are enjoying the experience of living in a park-like setting.
Many residents express that living in The Lakes at Cedar Grove is very different than other subdivisions. What they like best are the lakes. They create a very serene environment with nature and lots of wild life. The residents not only like living 15 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta, they also like the family-friendly atmosphere as well.
The amenities at the Lakes at Cedar Grove includes 110-acres of recreational area with five lakes and a fishing dock; jogging and bike trails; natural woodland paths; children’s play area; junior Olympic pool with water slide and play fountain; lighted tennis courts; two basketball courts; volleyball court; and a lovely Clubhouse overlooking two lakes.
The Lakes of Cedar Grove is a beautiful and peaceful place to live. With the annual Block party, Yard of the Month contests, Christmas parties, active neighborhood watch activities and the many other family, adult, and children activities throughout the year, there’s no wonder it’s known as a well-hidden secret in South Fulton County.
There are committees to join and assist with events, services and information. The Beautification Committee, Clubhouse Committee, Development Committee, Hospitality Committee, Neighborhood Watch Committee and the Advisory Committee that governs all the committees all work well together to add to the ambiance of the community.

In the Beginning
We began organizing in 2004 to build an infrastructure for the day when the Homeowners Association is turned over to the residents. Jerome Wright was our first President. He had the vision to stand up and ask residents if they were interested in organizing because lots of voices are always better than one. Those who attended that first meeting determined what committees to form. We have almost all of those committees now. Deborah Bowden was the first Chair of the Social Committee. Dee Arnold was the Co-Chair. Dan Suarez was the first Chair of the Clubhouse Committee. Dylan Lustick Chaired the first Neighborhood Watch Committee. Carlette Bolden and Naeema Gilyard Co-Chaired the Beautification Committee.

We’ve made a lot of progress since our beginnings. Our committees work hard in their chosen areas and have had much success with their events, meetings, and projects. You can’t imagine the work involved in planning, creating and executing a successful social event. The manpower it takes to make sure that the subdivision stays beautiful is astounding. Patrolling our subdivision to ensure our safety is a mammoth task. Scheduling the clubhouse for our fun and making sure that it’s used properly is time consuming and hard work. Staying on top of what’s developed around us takes a particular expertise and dedication. Working to make sure all the pieces fit together in a harmonious way requires teamwork, dedication and skill.
