Senior citizens in District 7 can make their “golden years” really shine, thanks to a variety of Fulton County services and activity facilities geared for almost every need and physical ability.

Persons age 60 and older can get a low-cost congregate meal and interact with others at one of the Fulton County Neighborhood Senior Centers in Hapeville, Palmetto, New Beginnings and in Fairburn. Homebound elderly can have a hot, nutritious meal delivered to their residence weekdays (“Meals on Wheels”) by volunteers or a County meal truck. Case management and personal care/homemaker services are also available.

Need a ride to and from doctor’s appointments or a Fulton County senior center or facility? Qualified seniors can take the Fulton County Senior Transportation System (STS).

Fulton County’s H.J.C. Bowden Senior Multipurpose Facility in East Point is the largest senior activity site in the district, and was the first of its kind in the County. Persons age 55 and older will find a hub of activity and comprehensive services to enrich the mind, body and spirit. Enjoy a low-cost breakfast and lunch in the spacious multipurpose room, soothe arthritic joints in the therapeutic pool, limber up in the fitness equipment room, see a doctor who specializes in treating the elderly, get creative with arts and crafts, take a computer or other enrichment class, or just enjoy spending time with other retirees.

The Adult Day Car Wing at Bowden allows diminished mental and/or physical capabilities to receive daily supervision while their caregivers tend to personal activities, or receive much-needed respite.

All of these senior services and sites are administered by the Fulton County Human Services Department’s Office of Aging in partnership with non-profit agencies. For more information about any of the above services or sites, call the Senior Information and Assistance Line at 404-730-6000.

Know someone who might like to know about these services, but they do not have a computer?  Please print this and take to them - thanks!
