Nearly a year ago, the beautiful Mute Swans that inhabited our great lakes passed away. So the beautification committee along with Berlene have been researching and planning this magnificent waterfowls’ return to inhabit our lakes once again. Consequently, special thanks are in order to Governor Sunny Purdue, Senator Donzella James, and Judy Knowles with Keep South Fulton Beautiful organization for their tremendous support to help us reclaim the wonder Mute Swans to The Lakes at Cedar Grove community. Donzella made it possible for us to gain access to the Governor, who by trade is a Veterinarian, and understands the importance of wildlife protection in our great state and was willing to help us access approval through the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for reclamation of our neighborhood mascot, Mute Swans. Fundraising via Keep South Fulton Beautiful (KSFB) will begin in January 2010 should the Maryland Department of Natural Resources organization allow us an opportunity to adopt two mute swans . They regard them as a nuisance - and are euthanizing Mute Swans annually. Yes, as unbelievable as it sounds we all know that the mute swans that we so enjoyed, are adorned creatures and we’re doing everything we can to bring them back with the help of KSFB and Zoo Atlanta’s guidance.
